About Brush For Life®
Changing the Way the World Brushesâ„¢
Brush For Life® was founded on a simple belief:
Most oral disease is preventable.
Yet billions of people around the world continue to suffer from tooth decay and gum disease—not because prevention is impossible, but because the world's approach to oral health education has changed very little for decades.
We believe it's time for a better way.
Brush For Life® exists to develop, validate, and share innovative oral health systems that make prevention simpler, more effective, and accessible to people everywhere.
Our work combines evidence-based research, practical education, behavioral science, product innovation, and real-world implementation to improve how people care for their mouths every day.
Our long-term vision extends beyond teaching people to brush their teeth. We are committed to advancing the science of preventive oral healthcare through ongoing research, clinical evaluation, and educational innovation.
As our research expands—including future doctoral work—we intend to contribute new evidence that challenges outdated assumptions and improves oral health practices worldwide.
Brush For Life® develops and supports initiatives including:
- The SMILE System®
- STOPPEDâ„¢ Certification
- Smile System Universityâ„¢
- Clinic-On-The-Go®
- Educational curriculum and professional training
- Research in preventive oral health and behavior change
- Products and technologies that improve daily oral hygiene
Whether serving a child in a rural village, training a dental professional, equipping a mission organization, or conducting research, every initiative is guided by the same purpose:
To transform oral health by changing the way the world brushes.
Vision
To revolutionize preventive oral healthcare through research, innovation, education, and evidence-based systems that improve oral health worldwide.
Mission
Brush For Life® develops innovative oral health systems, educational programs, and scientific research that empower individuals, professionals, and organizations to prevent oral disease and improve lifelong health.
Since 2018, I successfully joined a couple other entities in the USA : Your Best Pathway To Health in CA, AZ and TX; AMEN free clinics in CA, and FreeDOM clinics in Florida. Overseas was my goal. Ultimately I wanted to volunteer a much as possible as an educator on mission trips.
In 2021 I was one of four speakers on a dental CE safari to Kenya. I went 5 days early to volunteer on my own at a tiny clinic on the edge of the Maasai Mara before the others arrived. This trip was pivotal for Brush for Life's transition onto the international stage. Providential connections led to my own mission trips which have the mission and purpose to empower individuals in optimal self-managed preventative oral care for best health and longevity.
Brush for Life partners with BFL INTERNATIONAL, a non-profit which will be able to live on with or without me, but with my same mission in mind--to change the way the world brushes for optimal health.
GIVING BACK
OUR STORY
The phone rang and a woman answered, "XYZ MISSIONS" (not their real name)
Me: Hello, I'd like to volunteer for a mission trip.
Her: "What do you do?"
Me: I'm a dental hygienist
Her: Oh, we can't use you. All we do is pull teeth.
It was 2003. I was between jobs as a dental hygienist and decided to do volunteer work. I called a medical missionary organization I had heard of to volunteer my services.
After a long silence during which my mental wheels were turning, thinking "Well if they go to the same place every year, and see the same people, and do the same thing…" I calculated and replied,
Me: You mean – you eventually leave them edentulous*? (*without any teeth)
Her: Yes.
I was stunned. There was nothing more I could say and I hung up. But this got me thinking. What they needed was a means to instruct people who were waiting to be seen on proper oral care. Something that didn't require an extra body to feed and house on the trip. This has been the mission of Brush For Life®.
At first I sought out getting a grant to fund this project. No funds were available for what I wanted to do. I decided to create it myself and market it in the US, then supply it at a low cost to mission workers.
It's been a long haul for this hygienist, learning a completely different "language," the language of business and marketing. I've learned how to do my own websites, Facebook ads, marketing; write copy, a business plan, key notes, books; create PowerPoint's,® speaker one-sheets, video creation/lighting and editing--and a whole lot more...while working full time as a caregiver.
My caregiving obligations are over now and I'm free to travel the globe, taking the vision of Brush For Life® globally, equipping professionals and the public with knowledge and systems for improved oral health.
In short, the inception of Brush For Life, Inc.® was to supply instructional materials for medical/dental missionaries in remote places where space, electrical power, and manpower are limited. For some groups, their only option is to pull teeth each trip, eventually leaving people without ANY teeth.

I went to highschool with Stephen Rawlings, the head of this organization. He moved his family to Thailand on faith and prayer--and God provided. They are now full time missionaries helping refugees from a former war, who live on the edge of two countries, without a home in either place. Steve is as honest as they come, and I fully support his work and endeavors. I have been a contributor for years. As my business grows, I will be able to help more substantially--and I look forward to that.
Together with his wife Lynette and their son Micah, and the Educational Opportunity Foundation they:
• Protect orphans and children at risk from human trafficking
• Give hope to impoverished families though education and community service.
• Provide safe clean dormitories, Christian schools, and student sponsorship programs.
• Supply teachers in remote jungle villages with the tools they need to inspire the next generation.
Brush For Life® donates monthly to Leading To The Light, a 501C3 organization that partners with local workers in Thailand and Mynamar along with a Thai foundation called Education Opportunity Foundation.
